I ONLY HAVE EYES FOR YOU
By Stephen A Duncan
Surprise, Dad wants to see about new glasses. His current glasses are being held together by a yellow rubber band on one side and a green rubber band on the other side. He is tired of those pads that sits on his nose too. I have tried very hard not to tell my father “what to do” but now it’s time to visit the optometrist, and get a new pair of glasses.
Up on arriving they always hand you a clip board and want you to fill out several pages of paper work. It seems to me this paper work stuff could be mailed to the house and filled out before we come instead of trying to balance the clip board and the wallet and the cards in the wallet. But this is their way of doing business and they can run their business anyway they want.
Once the paper work is finished and they have the insurance information, they know how they are going to get paid. We are now ready for the exam.
Let’s see… did I answer all the questions?
What do you see Mr. Duncan? “I don’t see anything!”
Then to the next machine.
Let’s move across the hall to the next test machine.
I am going to blow air on your eye Mr. Duncan.
A computer screen the operator is using.
We are now in the third cube testing for … I’m not sure what… now.
Again the computer screen the operator is viewing.
Moving across the hall, again, to our forth cubicle.
Now we move to the Doctor’s office.
Lot’s of talking to Larry Koval and more tests.
It’s all over. It’s time to look at new glasses.
Dad knew the style he wanted this trip. He wanted black rim glasses.
This is a different look. Just what I wanted. I think?
I’m thinking this is the look!
Let me check this look again to make sure this is what I had in mind.
The staff decided they wanted to get in the picture too!
When Dad asked how he looked with his new glasses… she said “Fabulous!”
Just one last test to make sure the glasses will fit, and you are out-of-here.
