THE FLAG AT MAGNOLIA LANDING

THE FLAG AT MAGNOLIA LANDING

By Duncan

Yesterday was Veterans Day. As I sit at my computer, I want to focus on our Veterans (I’m one) as are so many who live in Magnolia Landing. The Magnolia Landing community came to the front gate in support of the flag pole ceremony, dictation and Veterans activities on Veterans Day. I would like to show a few pictures, and allow others who read this blog around the United State to see what we did yesterday. AUDIO IS ATTACHED BELOW.

I was staring at a blank computer screen when my phone rang. It was the VA Clinic here in North Fort Myers. A man from VA said my doctor’s appointment was canceled for tomorrow, no reason given, I needed to set a new appointment. December 4th he said.

I arrived here in North Fort Myers September of 2014. I have been trying to make my first doctor appointment for over a year. I simply want to refill blood pressure medicine. I will leave it there. I know a lot of people love and praise the VA. I had a perfect experience with VA in Indianapolis. But the complaints about getting an appointment in a timely manner at VA could be justified, especially here in North Fort Myers.

Okay, now that I got that off my chest. Yesterday had a nice crowd at the front entrance to Magnolia Landing. Magnolia Landing didn’t have a flag pole at the front gate when I arrived. The garage guys, who meet each Wednesday, talked about it and it seemed people who thought about it, wanted a flag pole. So a fund was started.

This project has been in the works all summer, maybe longer. The pole was installed and now, we are set. Magnolia Landing has a bright new shiny Flag Pole. Then the idea of dedicating the flag pole on Veterans Day came up and the plans were put in place. A call went out to all the home-owners, send in your military photograph and let us recognize you on Veterans Day!

The following photographs demonstrate Magnolia Landing pride. We have a flag flying high over our community and are very proud of what a flag means to each and every person who live here.
